The Website Feature That Captivates Users

Motion captures attention. That’s why videos are more engaging than static text, and it’s why they tend to be worth significant investment.

But video isn’t the only way to add motion to your website. The most captivating websites today feature motion elements throughout, so the user’s experience is fluid and their interest is continually piqued. Here are three ways a recent launch integrated motion in order to improve the effectiveness of the site.

Set the tone.

This site’s dynamic welcome banner presents the user with motion immediately upon visiting the site. Moving visuals and text convey a central message that sets the tone for the rest of their online experience, and helps persuade the user to probe further into the site.

Maintain flow.

Beyond your welcome banner, you can break up the monotony of text not only with images and white space, but also with motion. Parallax effects and other dynamic elements can draw the eye to individual segments of text and encourage the user to continue scrolling. The objective is to create a fluid, streamlined experience that keeps the user moving toward important information and calls to action.

Encourage engagement.

Of the motion elements highlighted here, the last is interactive. With diagrams and visual components that respond to the user’s actions, you can add to the variety of the site’s layout as you create another way to capture attention. When a user takes on a more active role, they’re more likely to take in information and retain a strong impression of your site and overall brand.
